At the spiritual first aid telephone services, trained volunteers answer the calls of those seeking help. The agents volunteer for the charitable work. They are usually laypeople, for whom neither work in the humanities nor psychological knowledge is a prerequisite. Specialists select the applicants based on tests and interviews, who then participate in intensive training. They receive 80–120 hours of preparation for the professional knowledge necessary for the work, which consists of self-awareness training, theoretical training and communication and telephone situation exercises for each service. After the training, those who pass the exam are hospitalized, and then they can start helping work. Our volunteer agents sit by the phone about 2–3 times a month (12 hours per shift) to have helpful conversations, and they also participate in supervision, case consultation, and occasionally in further training and training. These group activities help professional development and recharge with positive energy and experiences.
